Tango and The Four Seasons... In Buenos Aires - NOSPR
Tango and The Four Seasons... In Buenos Aires
At the mention of "Piazzolla," the response is, of course, "Tango"! The legendary bandoneonist and composer brought the richness of this dance culture, inseparably linked to the streets of Buenos Aires, into classical music – if it even makes sense to use that term in the context of his work. Piazzolla wanted to be an "academic" composer – that's why he sought lessons from the patriarch of Argentine music, Alberto Ginastera, and the renowned Parisian composition teacher, Nadia Boulanger. But his first and most important school was the encounter with tango legends: Carlos Gardel and Aníbal Troilo, playing the bandoneon in various ensembles, in dance and jazz clubs.
The history of tango nuevo proved to be pioneering for what we now consider as contemporary music: diversity, the absence of a divide between high and low musical culture, a love for the art of sound in every form.
