Komeda Inspirations / Bokszczanin / Serafińska / Majewski / Baron - NOSPR
Komeda Inspirations / Bokszczanin / Serafińska / Majewski / Baron
The organ is an instrument of virtually limitless expressive and timbral possibilities. Its sound can evoke vast landscapes, awakening an almost cinematic imagination. In this light, Jan Bokszczanin's bold idea of combining it with the music of Krzysztof Komeda comes as no surprise. This unusual combination of instruments places the works of the great jazz musician and film composer in a new context, allowing them to be rediscovered time and again.
The project Komeda Inspirations brings together jazz improvisation and cinematic drama. It emerged as a synthesis of the diverse inspirations of the artists involved and was first presented at the Kolory Polski Festival before being recorded in 2010. At the heart of the project is organist Jan Bokszczanin, joined on the NOSPR stage by some of Poland's leading jazz musicians. The programme includes themes from such legendary films as Knife in the Water, Rosemary's Baby, Two Men and a Wardrobe and The Law and the Fist. Komeda's well-known melodies acquire a new, spacious sonority, guiding listeners through a world of cinema, jazz and the organ’s boundless imagination.
