JazzKLUB / Maciej Obara Quartet feat. Mathias Eick / Sand Spits and Fjords - NOSPR

This time, Maciej Obara’s Polish–Norwegian quartet will appear in an even more Norwegian incarnation. Joining the leader, Dominik Wania (piano), Ole Morten Vågan (double bass) and Gard Nilssen (percussion) will be guest trumpeter Mathias Eick. He, too, records for the Munich-based ECM label, where he has already released six albums under his own name. In this new, expanded line-up, Eick brings his distinctive, lyrical sound, inspired by folk idioms, into dialogue with the quartet's improvisational energy and temperament. The point of departure for this artistic encounter is a set of brand-new compositions by the quartet’s leader.
