Marcin Kydryński presents: SIESTA w drodze: Pat Metheny SIDE EYE III+ - NOSPR

The Side-Eye III+ tour is a continuation of Metheny’s original project, in which the guitarist invites young, exceptionally talented musicians to join the band in order to confront his body of work with their fresh energy and new perspectives. This dynamic, vibrant concert format combines Metheny’s classic style with the energy of a new generation of musicians and a fresh outlook on his musical world.

Siesta w drodze is delighted and proud to be the first to announce the artist’s new project: Side Eye III+. The album will premiere in January. Concerts will follow in June.

Pat Metheny, born into a musical family, began on the trumpet, but at the age of 12 chose the guitar. As a teenager, he was already performing with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City. He entered the world jazz scene in 1974 and, through his collaboration with Gary Burton, quickly developed his distinctive style - modern yet deeply rooted in jazz tradition.

His debut album Bright Size Life (1975) reinvented the sound of jazz guitar for generations to come. Throughout his career, Metheny has consistently expanded the boundaries of the genre, experimenting with new technology and striving to broaden the possibilities of his instrument. He has collaborated with many outstanding artists, including Steve Reich, Herbie Hancock, and David Bowie, and his work includes compositions for ensembles of various sizes, orchestras, ballet, and the Orchestrion project.

Metheny is also a respected educator - he has taught at the University of Miami and Berklee College of Music, where he later received an honorary doctorate.

He is a pioneer in the use of synthesizers in jazz and co-created new types of guitars, including the 42-string Pikasso guitar.

The artist has received 20 Grammy Awards in many different categories and three Gold Records. In 2015 he was inducted into the DownBeat Hall of Fame, and in 2018 he received the title of NEA Jazz Master - the highest honour in jazz. He is an intensely touring musician, sometimes performing more than 100 concerts a year. He remains one of the most important figures in global jazz.

The idea behind SIESTA w drodze is to present live the artists known from Marcin Kydryński’s Sunday radio show Pora Siesty and from the bestselling Siesta compilations. The host and artistic director of SIESTA w drodze is Marcin Kydryński—radio broadcaster, writer and lyricist, record producer, photographer, and co-organizer of the Siesta Festival in Gdańsk. For more than 10 years, the producer of SIESTA w drodze has been 4Music Booking & Management.

In Siesta, the blending of cultures, the softening of boundaries while respecting regional traditions, and reconciliation beyond historical divisions are, alongside the very substance of the music, the most cherished values.
