JazzKLUB / Think Big / The Chicago Landing in Normandy - NOSPR

This promises to be an evening of wild, exuberant, high-energy experimentation – an experience born of the encounter between the distinctive musical personalities of the French free jazz scene and the Chicago avant-garde. The European half of the quartet consists of double bassist Thibault Cellier and saxophonist Raphaël Quenehen, who have been collaborating for more than two decades, notably in the artistic collective Les Vibrants Défricheurs and the band Papanosh. The American half brings together percussionist, composer, activist and AACM member Mike Reed with trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Ben LaMar Gay. Their common musical language is improvisation, through which they bring together the artistic traditions of their respective musical communities.
