JazzKLUB / Robyn Schulkowsky / Joey Baron / Yoshihide Ōtomo / An Avant-garde Dialogue - NOSPR

For fans of experimental music, this concert is a real treat. Legendary figures will appear on stage. The percussion duo Schulkowsky & Baron have been searching for and creating new sounds on percussion instruments relentlessly for many years. They have developed a highly individual language, unlimited by standard models of rhythm and sound. Baron performs both as a soloist and alongside numerous jazz musicians (Frisell, Zorn). Schulkowsky, for her part, continually expands and refines her unusual array of instruments. She is also a composer and has collaborated with some of the most significant contemporary composers (Stockhausen, Xenakis, Feldman, Cage). Ōtomo, a multi-instrumentalist and visionary, is regarded as one of the most compelling artists at the turn of the century. He effortlessly establishes common ground with musicians from a range of artistic backgrounds and continues to chart new directions for the musical avant-garde.
