JazzKLUB / Nana Rashid / The Finest Voice in Danish Jazz - NOSPR
JazzKLUB / Nana Rashid / The Finest Voice in Danish Jazz
With a voice of striking beauty and emotional depth, Nana Rashid weaves intimate narratives that explore themes of identity, belonging, and complex human experiences. She wants her music to be a bridge, a way of bringing people together. Of Danish, Zanzibari, and Omani origin, she was named Best Jazz Artist of the Year at the 2023 Danish Music Awards, the country’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards. With effortless charisma, she combines jazz, soul, and blues, positioning herself within the canon of jazz vocalists while drawing inspiration from the achievements of – among others – Carmen McRae and Roberta Flack. She does so, however, with a fresh and original personal approach. Her debut album, Music for Betty, was widely acclaimed for its personal nature, emotional depth, and poetic narrative. During her performances, Rashid mesmerises with her voice, delights with her elegance and ability to tell deep stories of rare sincerity, supported here by the trio Little North.
