JazzKLUB / MiXMONK / A Monk–Coltrane Cocktail - NOSPR

The MiXMONK trio was formed in 2017 in response to a commission from Brussels’ BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts. Bram De Looze and Robin Verheyen, two outstanding musicians on the Belgian scene who also perform regularly as a duo, joined forces with the acclaimed percussionist Joey Baron to present their interpretations of the music by Thelonious Monk. The collaboration resulted, among other things, in two albums featuring Monk’s compositions alongside the trio’s own original music. The year 2026 marked the centenary of John Coltrane’s birth, inspiring the trio to reunite under the banner of MiXMONK Supreme with a new programme devoted to the music of Monk and Coltrane. In 2027, the trio celebrates its 10th anniversary with a European tour and a new album.
