Medeski shares responsibility for the success and all twenty-three albums of Medeski, Martin & Wood, the trio that found a new way of bringing together jazz, groove and the avant-garde. Much of that success is due to Medeski himself, one of today's greatest masters of the Hammond organ, the Wurlitzer, the Clavinet and countless other keyboard instruments. But what will happen when we strip everything back and place nothing more than a fine piano before such an outstanding improviser and versatile artist? In his musical library, the pianist has virtually everything at his fingertips: wild experiments, hypnotic grooves, and a deep jazz love for Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk.
