JazzKLUB / jaimie branch – FLY or DIE II: bird dogs of paradise
Jaimie Branch – a trumpeter, a composer, a sound engineer, an activist, a woman who has attracted considerable attention over the last few years, awhile the Fly or Die band she leads is no mean attraction for concertgoers. Born in New York, she has been active on the stages of Chicago and Baltimore. A graduate of New England Conservatory, she is one of the hottest names on American jazz circuit.
She spells her name entirely in lowercase, and says, in a straightforward and concise manner, ‘If I weren’t a musician, high, high goals would be like, criminal, you know, a good one. But, coming back down to Earth, I’d probably become an accountant’.
A girl with such a personality could not escape both the audiences’ and the critics attention. She quotes Don Cherry, Axel Dörner, Booker Little and Miles Davis as her greatest inspirations.
