JazzKLUB / Hania Derej Trio and guests / New Hope for Polish Music - NOSPR
JazzKLUB / Hania Derej Trio and guests / New Hope for Polish Music
This exceptionally young artist (born in 2005!) has taken the Polish music scene by storm, captivating audiences both within and beyond the jazz milieu. A pianist, composer, conductor, and creator of electronic music, she displays an unflagging curiosity for a wide range of musical domains and aesthetics. Hania Derej is currently studying at the Academy of Music in Kraków (symphonic conducting) as well as at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (jazz composition and arrangement). In 2025, Gazeta Wyborcza named her ‘a new hope of Polish music’ in its Sanki poll. Her trio is a newly formed project, conceived after a chance meeting at the Kraków Film Festival that same year. It marks a new chapter in her creative work: jazz compositions presented in a more delicate, neo-classical guise, enriched by cinematic harmonies. Joining the trio will be two masters of the saxophone from different generations: Henryk Miśkiewicz and Marta Wajdzik.
