Festival of Premieres/ Camerata Silesia / OMN Ensemble/ Music of a New Reality
Contemporary music does not cease to explore borderlines – not only the sonic, but also the visual, physical and metaphorical ones. Additionally, it discovers processes hidden in the very acts of creating and perceiving art. The liquid natures of identities, types of matter and relationships will intertwine to create music for a new reality.
Nina Fukuoka found inspiration for her composition in the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. The eponymous Body without Organs is not understood in a physical sense, but as emancipation from structures, organisations and hierarchies imposed from above. In Fukuoka’s piece, electronics and the instrumental layer blend with Izumi Yoshida’s live animation, a significant element of which is water – full of indeterminacy and endlessly shapeshifting. A picture of liquid matter can also be found in Mateusz Śmigasiewicz’s mist. The eponymous phenomenon, most simply understood as a limitation of visibility, can also be perceived metaphorically: as limited cognition of reality. What does this composition hold in store for listeners, and will it allow them to see what is concealed? Sławomir Wojciechowski’s Equally real introduces yet another aspect of liquidity – that of collaboration and perception.
Here, music is more than merely a recording, it is an event happening here and now, in the space between the performer and the listener. How will the audience react? Will their reception be harmonious or discordant? The creative process, though seemingly a solitary act, is always entangled in a web of relations.
