Silesian Quartet / Arkadiusz Adamski (canceled) / Mozart among the giants
Alfred Einstein has once noted that the clarinet in Mozart’s Quintet predominates as o n l y primus inter pares and blends into the quartet texture much more than it is the case with his other works of a similar kind. Penderecki’s first two quartets are a successful attempt at overcoming genre-related restrictions, being at the same time a journey to the borders of one’s own sonic language. Górecki protested against linking the 3rd Quartet to Velimir Khlebnikov’s poem, even though the expression of the musical piece seems to harmonise well with the poet’s motto. Three less obvious perspectives on the quartet – from three masters who liked to break away from convention.
