FADO / Patricia Costa with her band / Katowice Culture Nature Festival „Melancholy and Ecstasy”
A sensory-friendly concert as part of the Pianissimo series
Fado emerged in nineteenth-century Lisbon. It is a kind of music in which the voice enters into dialogue with the sound of the Portuguese guitar to spin a tale of longing, lost love, and the inevitability of fate. For this very reason, it resonates strongly with one dimension of this year’s festival theme – Melancholy and Ecstasy. We would like to invite you to a special instalment of the sensory-friendly Pianissimo concert series, in which we shall create a space conducive to those seeking reflection, attentive listening, and contemplation.
The star of the evening will be Patrícia Costa – a singer born in Guimarães, who grew up listening to traditional Portuguese music. She made her first public appearance at the age of eight at the Teatro Jordão in her hometown and received her musical education at the Conservatório Regional de Vila Nova de Famalicão / Caldas da Saúde. For many years, she has performed in Portugal and abroad, including Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, and South Africa. In 2010, she released her own album titled Um cantar velado e lento. The artist who remains her foremost inspiration is Amália Rodrigues, the legendary Portuguese singer known as the Queen of Fado.
During her concert at the NOSPR, Patrícia Costa will invite the audience into the world of fado – an intimate, deeply moving genre that is intimate, steeped in melancholy, and profoundly moving.
The event is free of charge; registration is required via our form that is available from 10 April at 10 a.m. (link to the form: https://www.interankiety.pl/f/e70OwX3E).
