JazzKLUB / Natalia Kordiak Quintet - NOSPR
JazzKLUB / Natalia Kordiak Quintet
"To hear something, one must be silent themselves," Natalia Kordiak says, quoting Jolanta Brach-Czaina's "Szczeliny istnienia." One could add that one must also know when to be silent and when, on the contrary, to shout. Kordiak possesses this knowledge, as do the musicians of her quintet. Thus, the band's concerts become a narrative suspended between quiet contemplation of texts - including Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" and Olga Tokarczuk's "Czuły Narrator" - and wild, jazz-infused dance. Between these poles lies a true improvised mystery, full of secrets and plot twists. No one spares themselves within it, least of all the leader, who sings with her whole self - including breath, squeaks, and laughter.
