Tuesday Jazz Club / Walk Away feat. Eric Marienthal
Walk Away, one of the leading bands playing fusion jazz with ethnic elements. Set up in 1985 by the drummer Krzysztof Zawadzki, it initially comprised Bernard Maseli (vibraphone), Adam Wendt (saxophone), Jacek Niedziela (bass, replaced by Tomasz Grabowy) and Zbigniew Jakubek (piano, keyboard). In the first year of its activity, the band won the first award of the Jazz on the Oder Festival and the Key to Career award at the Pomeranian Jazz Autumn Festival, and performed at Jazz Jamboree. In 1986 the musicians gave a series of concerts in Poland and abroad, appeared at the Leverkusen Festival and recorded their first disc for the West German record label Emscherland. In the years 1987-1988 they performed with Lora Szafran and Urszula Dudziak, with whom they went on a tour around Europe. They played also with Ewa Bem and Michał Urbaniak. In 1990 the band played as a support for the Miles Davis group during their tour of Germany. Walk Away released many records, such as Penelopa (1986), Walk Away (1989), Help Yourself (1992), Walking Around (1997), Changes (1998), Double Walk (2000) and Zeriba (2005). Their 1994 album FX featured, among others, Mike Stern (of the Miles Davis group), Eric Marienthal, Mino Cinelu, and Urszula Dudziak. The group won several times in the Jazz Top poll of Jazz Forum magazine as the best electric band.
