Romanticism, the golden age of the song, was also a soil from which grew songs of two special kinds: vocal duets and quartets. In this concert, these rarely exhibited musical treasures will intertwine with solo songs by various composers, from Haydn to Britten – with no mean place for Schumann and Brahms (before the break) and for French Romanticism and Modernism (after the break). The hidden thread, onto which such a mosaique of pearls is to be strung, is the topic of a journey (in the second part of the recital – a sea voyage), reappearing repeatedly throughout the evening. Polish translations of the songs lyrics being projected will enable the audience to enjoy the sophisticated and awe-inspiring symbiosis of music and poetry more fully.
