{oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna / Martyna Pastuszka / Roberta Invernizzi - NOSPR
{oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna / Martyna Pastuszka / Roberta Invernizzi
Ino and Omphale. Two strong mythical women, although from entirely different stories. Obverse and reverse. A villain and the charm of nobleness. Ino, a Theban queen, eliminates her foster sons to save her own offspring. Omphale, a Lydian queen, makes Heracles fall in love with her by revealing his feminine characteristics.
The women’s stories painted in Georg Philipp Telemann’s Ino cantata and L’Omphale suite have power and drama in them. Moreover, they have human emotions: real, not pretended, surprisingly contemporary for us. One needs a skill to communicate them today. The famous Italian singer Roberta Invernizzi moves audiences to tears. Will she save Ino?
Martyna Pastuszka, the boss of {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna and the author of the programme, will also deal with the stereotypes about women suggested by two further pieces – Telemann’s La Changeante and Montéclair’s Suite No. 4. For is it always true that La donna è mobile?
