Martyna Pastuszka – musical entrepreneur, ensemble leader, conductor, soloist, chamber music collaborator, founder and artistic director of the {oh!} Orkiestra, with whom she performs regularly. As concertmaster, she works with Raphael Pichon’s Pygmalion Ensemble and Teodor Currentzis’ Utopia orchestra. She has performed as concertmaster, soloist and chamber collaborator with distinguished ensembles, such as Le Concert de la Loge, the Concerto Copenhagen, the Hofkapelle München, the Collegium Vocale Gent, Le Parlement de Musique and the Aukso.
As artistic director-in-residence, she programmed the entire 2022 edition of the Misteria Paschalia festival in Cracow and presented the contemporary premiere of Jacob Schuback’s oratorio Die Jünger zu Emaus. Led by Martyna Pastuszka, the {oh!} Orkiestra also premieres operas, such as Hasse’s Arminio, Vinci’s Gismondo, re di Polonia and Sarri’s Didone abbandonata. In 2022, as residents of the Bayreuth Baroque festival, the {oh!} Orkiestra presented the onstage premiere of Vinci’s Alessandro nell’Indie. 2023 marked the premiere of Antonio Caldara’s opera Venceslao. The {oh!} Orkiestra and the {oh!} Trio, which she directs, make recordings for the following labels: Aparte, Sony, NIFC, Muso, CPO, Dux and Erato.
Martyna was nominated for the Opus Klassik awards in the Conductor of the Year category, as well as for the Paszporty Polityki and Fryderyki awards. She won the Koryfeusz 2023 award in the Personality of the Year category. In 2021, TVP Kultura produced the documentary „Nie jestem maestro”, directed by Grzegorz Jankowski, offering insight into the {oh!} Orkiestra’s musicians’ work and relations, as well as presenting a profile of the ensemble’s leader.
Since 2007, Martyna Pastuszka has been teaching historical violin at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
