From the Blue Planet / Festival of Premieres / NOSPR / Marin Alsop
Large orchestra, organ and electronics.
Three female composers – two millennials and the leader of the young generation – open the 10th Festival of Premieres: Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, a brilliant creator of orchestral frescoes; Aleksandra Słyż, who explores the space between electronics, the sound of acoustic instruments and the performer’s body; Teoniki Rożynek, fascinated by processing the sounds of the world around her, winner of a ‘Passport’ awarded by the weekly Polityka (2021). In Okeanos, we will be swayed by the sound of a large ensemble, immersing ourselves in the depths of our Blue Planet’s waters. At different times will bring us face-to-face with a slow, but ineluctable change. How profound will its consequences be? And is the transferral of our consciousness to a fictional world (in Shift) what we really crave?
