Mozart and French Landscapes - NOSPR
Mozart and French Landscapes
"This is the best thing I have written in my life so far," informed the twenty-eight-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus to his father in a letter. Composers often express opinions like this, which frequently diverge from the feelings of the audience. However, it's hard not to agree with Mozart – Kwintet Es-dur can captivate from the very first note: with the most vibrant utilization of wind instruments, featuring a virtuosic piano part, and an infectious cheerful spirit. Katowice-based composer Jarosław Mamczarski's quintet, as a part of his Microconcerto cycle, draws inspiration from Mozart's stylistic traits, employing characteristic techniques of concert music within chamber ensembles.
Francis Poulenc's Sekstet, steeped in the neoclassical style drawing from Mozart's era, starts with a wild ride. We transition from a carriage to a fast car and speed through French landscapes!
