Marcin Kydryński presents "Siesta on the Way" / The Manhattan Transfer (new date)
19th December 2021 is a new date of the postponed concert – The Manhattan Transfer 13th December 2020.
Marcin Krydryński invites you to the second concert in NOSPR from the series Siesta w drodze. This time, the legend of the American jazz scene, The Manhattan Transfer, which has already performed in the NOSPR in 2015. Those who were at the concert in Katowice think that it was one of the best concerts in the history of the NOSPR.
The Manhattan Transfer will perform on stage in the concert hall of NOSPR, where a masterful combination of genres and styles: jazz, R&B, doo-wop, bebop will sound. Nearly 50 years spent on stage, 30 albums released and 10 Grammy awards won. Amazing and perfect.
This vocal group became famous in the late 70s of the 20th century with their performance of the song Chanson d'amour. The Manhattan Transfer's status was strengthened when they received 12 Grammy nominations for their 1985 album Vocalese, which became the second most nominated album after Michael Jackson's Thriller. Since then, they have enjoyed an enduring reputation as a group, while successfully developing their solo careers. The Manhattan Transfer was inscribed in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and awarded the title of American Eagle in recognition of its contribution to American culture and musical heritage.
The Manhattan Transfer have collaborated with such musical personalities as Ella Fitzgerald, Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Take 6 and Weather Report. They have performed all over the world in packed music clubs, concert halls and stadiums. They have performed at the Palace Theatre in London and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, among others.
Tim Hauser, founder and leader of the quartet, died in 2014. The members of The Manhattan Transfer: Cheryl Bentyne, Janis Siegel and Alan Paul decided to continue their musical activity and after inviting Trist Curless, they recorded the album The Junction in 2018. On this album they maintained perfect voice harmonization, and thanks to the cooperation with producer Mervyn Warren, a five-time Grammy award winner cooperating with Quincy Jones and Boyz II Men, among others, the legendary sound gained freshness and dynamism.
During the concert in the NOSPR, the songs not only from the last album will be played. It will be an opportunity to hear The Manhattan Transfer’s greatest hits created over the years and to see that the professionalism of the musicians is accompanied by constant joy of performing on stage.
