Yet we must not lose hope: once the crisis passes, there will still be places and people to return to. Meanwhile, let us rejoice in the gifts of modern technology, enabling us to spend the last day of the year in the company of the NOSPR, Bassem Akiki – one of the most charismatic conductors in our country, a recently appointed music director of the Wrocław Opera – and Ewa Tracz, whose dense, technically flawless soprano has been conquering the hearts of singing connoisseurs throughout Europe. New Year’s Eve concerts can boast of a beautiful tradition in Poland, reaching back to 1948, soon after the war. A pandemic is not mighty enough to break it.
