Kaleidoscope / Mister Szymanowski’s Music - NOSPR
Kaleidoscope / Mister Szymanowski’s Music
‘Having left the composery, Katot moved with his work to the drawing room, where he would sit, as per usual, until five p.m. It was then that Gama and I or, if I was away for a while, Gama on her own account, punctual as the clock, would knock hard on the drawing room door, in order to encourage Katot to take a walk with smiles and wide sweeps of the tail.’ – this is how Zofia, Karol Szymanowski’s sister, remembered the habits they had at their family home in Tymoszówka. The May concert will be filled with Szymanowski’s pieces as well as with tales of “the composery” and of the dogs named with musical terms: Gama and Scherzo. The music will be performed by an outstanding pianist, NOSPR’s artist-in-residence, Tymoteusz Bies – winner in the piano category and laureate of the special prize for the best performance of a composition by Karol Szymanowski in the 1st Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in Katowice.
Duration of the concert: approx. 45 minutes
