JazzKLUB / Young Power – New Edition – Freedom
Can history repeat itself...? It can! In 2022, the jazz-rock project which was a sensation in mid-eighties, presents a spectacular return to the stage in a new form after 30 years. In addition to the old boys (the saxophonists Włodzimierz Kiniorski and Aleksander Korecki, the trumpeter Antoni “Ziut” Gralak, the trombonist Bronisław Duży, the vocalist Jorgos Skolias), Krzysztof Popek, the band’s founder, leader, flutist, arranger and conductor, invited leading figures of a new generation of Polish jazz, such as the saxophonist Marta Wajdzik, the trumpeter Cyprian Baszyński, and the drummer Paweł Dobrowolski to join him. The 15-piece big band performs both new compositions and old pieces in new arrangements, in which one can hear jazz-rock, blues, funky, soul, R&B, afro, reggae, free, and rock’n’roll. Their concerts are a mix of exquisite craft with great charisma and energy flowing from the stage and capable of infecting all audiences. A gripping show! Young Power is forever!
