Tomasz Chyła Quintet – a jazz band hailing from Gdańsk and taking more than just their native Poland’s jazz scene by storm. They have performed not only at Polish and European, but also Asian festivals. The doors to a career were opened for the quintet in 2016, which saw one of their most significant achievements – the Grand Prix of the International Contest of Young Jazz Ensembles Jazz Juniors in Cracow, won in December 2016. They have recorded three albums: “Eternal Entropy”, ”Circlesongs” and „Live at Polish Radio3” published by Agencja Muzyczna Polskiego Radia. Tomasz Chyła Quintet’s music finds enthusiastic reception, not only among music critics, journalists and genre experts, but also among general audiences.

In Jazz Top 2018, a survey conducted among the readers of the Jazz Forum monthly, Tomasz Chyła and his ensemble received an honourable mention for their “Circlesongs” album.

They came first in the New Hope – Band category of the Jazz Forum survey. They also came first in the Polish Jazz Album of the Year category in the JazzPRESS editors’ ranking.

In 2019, the band received the Phonographic Academy nomination to the Fryderyk music award in the Jazz Music category, for “Circlesongs” as Album of the Year. It was the second time the band was nominated to the award. Their first nomination was the year before, for the “Eternal Entropy” album, in the Jazz, Phonographic Debut of the Year, category. Tomasz Chyła, the band’s leader, was also nominated himself, as the Artist of the Year in the Jazz category in 2019.
