JazzKLUB / Polmuz - NOSPR
JazzKLUB / Polmuz
Polmuz is a band created by the saxophonist Michał Fetler, certainly remembered by melomaniacs from his activity with such groups as Jazz Band Młynarski-Masecki or Tsigunz Fanfara Avantura, during his time as artist-in-residence at the Centrum Kultury Zamek in Poznań.
The point of departure for the creation of the project was a collection of archive recordings of folk songs and instrumental pieces from the region of Wielkopolska, found in a unique collection of shellac records from late 19th and early 20th century.
The musicians invited to materialise the idea were ones of significantly varying sensitivities and temperaments, representing avant-garde jazz, contemporary and experimental music, raw electronic music, as well as noise and hardcore. The result was a daring, to the point of being futuristic, interpretation of Polish folk music, a collective and primal improvisation and a ritual trance.
