JazzKLUB / Kaze - NOSPR
JazzKLUB / Kaze
The band is composed of staples of the Japanese jazz stage: Satoko Fujii and Natsuki Samura, as well as two young Frenchmen – Christian Pruvost and Peter Orins. The unusual textures of the piano, the drums, and the two trumpets, the respect for every note (and for the listener), as well as Fujii’s outstanding sense of dramaturgy, render Kaze describable with the term of “tender avant-garde”. In their effort of following the most challenging parts, the listeners are rewarded with the rare but regular gripping chord progressions, spectacular arrangement devices, and catchy lines of melody. For over a decade, Kaze’s work has been garnering enthusiastic reviews from specialists, simultaneously constituting an excellent introduction to the aesthetics of free improvisation for beginners.
