Inauguration of Marcin Dymiter’s installation ‘Sound in Motion’ - NOSPR
Inauguration of Marcin Dymiter’s installation ‘Sound in Motion’
Sound in Motion is a long-term project, a cycle of sound-based activities, each dedicated to an interesting place. What serves as an important context for the project is the architectural space along with its acoustics. Sound in Motion constitutes an interpretation of the place in question – a sound intervention grounded in the spirit of site-specific art, which fosters a dialogue between the composed sound, spatial environment, and the participants. Each participant becomes a co-performer of the composition, contributes sounds and shapes them, all within a collective framework. Gradually, the movements of the participants and the sounds they produce converge, forming the basis for the construction of sonic relations and spatially distributed sound structures. Movement is a prerequisite for the performance of the piece to occur. The sound, in turn, is a newly devised and spatially designed form, created specifically for each iteration, taking into account the contextual, site-specific, and acoustic properties of the location. This type of performance can be described as an active composition or a participatory piece – something that could not exist without the involvement and presence of the participants. The project combines modern technologies (smartphones, QR codes) with movement. Through a set of instructions, which simultaneously functions as a spatial score and an operational guide, the work that centres on presence and constant change in location becomes performable. At its core, the project invites reflection on the cultivation of mindfulness.
The installation is available free of charge in the NOSPR foyer (near the ticket office).
