Gdańsk-based trio Hinode Tapes will perform at NOSPR in a unique collaboration with Tokyo double bassist and composer Hiroki Chiba, who is coming from Japan specifically for this concert. An experimental fusion of ambient, free jazz, and post-rock with a fascination for Japanese poetry. Their debut album (2022) reached 5th place in Gazeta Wyborcza's poll, while their second, "Kiki Mori" (Instant Classic, 2024), is extreme minimalism – barely audible drums, sounds of rubbing hands, the buzzing of tape echo. A joint album recorded in Gdańsk and Tokyo with Hiroki Chiba – a bassist who has collaborated with Belle and Sebastian, Jim O'Rourke, and Tomasz Dąbrowski – marks the first such European-Asian cooperation in the careers of both ensembles, featuring specially created visualizations. Organic material where light battles darkness, and zen confronts anxiety.
