From the very first time I conducted the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, I felt a wonderful chemistry with the musicians; the music making was intuitive and natural.
As one of today's most exciting young conductors, Domingo Hindoyan enjoys a vibrant career leading internationally acclaimed ensembles including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.
The 2019/20 season marks the start of Domingo’s tenure as Principal Guest Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Last seasons Domingo conducted, amongst others, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. His past operatic highlights include cooperation with Wiener Staatsoper (L’elisir d’amore, Turandot), Royal Swedish Opera (Traviata, Aida), Metropolitan Opera (L’elisir d’amore), Lyric Opera of Chicago and Mariinsky Theatre (La bohème), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Luisa Miller), Staatsoper Stuttgart (Tosca), Semperoper Dresden (Traviata), Opéra de Monte-Carlo (I puritani) and Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Tosca, Orfeo ed Euridice, La bohème).
Recent symphonic highlights included guest engagements with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, North Carolina Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Symphoniker Hamburg, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, and Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo.
In the years 2013–2016, Domingo was the first assistant to Daniel Barenboim at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Since then, he has become a prominent guest conductor in the house, having conducted a vast array of works including Traviata, Tosca, L’elisir d’amore, La bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia, The Rake's Progress, Orfeo ed Euridice and The Rite of Spring (ballet).
Domingo was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He began his music studies as a violinist and member of the music education program El Sistema. He went on to study conducting in Europe at the Haute école de musique de Genève with Professor Laurent Gay.
