Zaduszki Jazzowe / Sylvie Courvoisier Trio - NOSPR
Zaduszki Jazzowe / Sylvie Courvoisier Trio
Sylvie Courvoisier – one of the most creative and outstanding pianists in jazz. Long-time collaborator of Mark Feldman, Ikue Mori, Nate Wooley, Wadada Leo Smith, Mary Halvorson, and Evan Parker.
She blends exquisite technique with a crazy imagination which often leads her against the dominant currents, either in classical music or jazz. She speaks of her trio as follows: "John Zorn had been encouraging me to form a trio for many years – but I have always felt intimidated by the long and difficult history behind the ensemble. Obviously, the most important thing was finding the right musicians to work with, and I had tried multiple configurations before the present one was established".
Today, Sylvie Courvoisier Trio, having become one of the most important bands in American jazz over the last seven years, can easily be called one which has reached a perfect blend of composition and improvisation in the classical format of a piano trio.
