Energetic interpretations full of expressional contrasts, driven by sheer inventiveness – Martín García García introduced himself to the Chopin Competition audiences as an intriguing and extraordinary personality. His beaming with joy also proved convincing for the jurors, who awarded him the very high third place. Now, however, the artist is reminding us that Chopin Competition laureates do not need to remain Chopinists only. At NOSPR, the Spanish pianist, whose playing evoked highly contrasting emotions in the Competition’s listeners, will present himself performing pieces by Bach and Liszt along those by Chopin. The precisely thought-out polyphonic Bach and the virtuosic Liszt’s piece, full of sonic concepts and including an interesting funeral march halfway through, will provide an original context for the selected works by the Polish Romantic.
