Carl Nielsen very often conducted the first performances of their works. As fate would have it, the Dane’s Violin Concerto, Op. 33 was the last he heard before his death. On 3 October 1931, shortly before the broadcast of the concert that he was supposed to be conducting, he was taken to hospital, where he listened to the Concerto. He died the following night.
Melody by Myroslav Skoryk is a very moody music piece, as well as Elgar’s Concert Overture "In the South", Op. 50 composed during a family, winter holiday in Italy.
