NOSPR Chamber ensembles / Schumann & Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (canceled)
According to health&safety restrictions from the 4th November 2020, all cultural institutions, including ours, are closed to the public.
Because of this, we regret to inform you that this concert had to be canceled.
Both pieces featured in the programme of the concert are related to Robert Schumann – for better or for worse. The more lucky one was Mendelssohn’s Trio op. 49, thoroughly reviewed by Schumann prior to its publication in 1840, resulting in the reviewer hailing the author as „the Mozart of the 19th century”. Clara Schumann’s only own trio was composed in 1846, when her husband was seriously ill and Clara suffered a miscarriage of their child. It was only a year later that Robert wrote his first trio, clearly influenced by his wife's composition. The undervalued Trio op. 17 is usually performed together with Robert Schumann’s Trio op. 63. Today, the pearl is going to shine without its usual companion, together with another masterpiece of the era. Let us hope it will finally shine its own light.
