In Nocturnes, Debussy paints grey clouds, flashes of light and a sea bathed in silvery moonlight. Ravel's Shéhérazade was born of a fascination with the poetical vision of the Orient. His Pavane for a Dead Princess and Le Tombeau de Couperin are concerned with title inspirations.
