Robak and Dziadek. The Silesian School of Composition & Moz-art - NOSPR
Robak and Dziadek. The Silesian School of Composition & Moz-art
In the second half of the 20th century, Katowice and Upper Silesia became important compositional centers. Generations of original creators emerged from the classes of Bolesław Szabelski and Bolesław Woytowicz at the Katowice Academy of Music. This is where Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, and Witold Szalonek crafted their works.
From this same academy hails Andrzej Dziadek (born in 1957), a creator of music rooted in Polish Romanticism, focused and unafraid of spirituality, always centered around melody. If we accept (according to the Map of Polish Composers portal) that the Silesian school of composition is characterized by "diversity based on the foundations of European musical culture," then surely its representative is also Adrian Robak (born in 1979), whose vibrant and colorful music does not shy away from tonality. We eagerly await the premieres of new works by these artists!
