Concert marking the 80th birthday of Ryszard Gabryś - NOSPR

A composer, a teacher, a journalist, an author of radio programmes, an organiser of cultural life... It is impossible to imagine the landscape of Polish, and particularly Silesian, musical culture without Ryszard Gabryś, who will celebrate his 80th birthday on 2nd December. It is widely known that the most pleasant celebrations are those shared with kind spirits – therefore, such will be the concert by Camerata Silesia, who have been artistic friends with the composer for many years. The ensemble, “flexible, creative, one of a kind” – as he puts it himself – has proven a source of inspiration for him multiple times. As a result, the Camerata Silesia, conducted by Anna Szostak, frequently premieres Gabryś’s works, including ones dedicated to them. The composer feels perfectly convenient in the vocal and vocal-instrumental area, while his sonic explorations do not fail to surprise with their approach to the use of text, as well as with the tasks performers are entrusted. The Wniebogłosy II and the Voyelles de Arthur Rimbaud provide a unique opportunity to hear, as the score has it, a conductor-vocalist...
