My funny Valentine. Jazz evening - NOSPR
My funny Valentine. Jazz evening
Remember that famous scene from Pretty Woman when he - sophisticated and handsome - takes her to the opera and shows her a different world? The character played by Julia Roberts is tearful, moved, and... seduced. The film also features the famous duet from La Traviata - Libiamo ne' lieti calici, meaning: Let's drink to the glory of love!
Art is a perfect tool in the arsenal of a seducer or seductress. The most hidden meanings - those that cannot be conveyed in words - can be expressed through music. And music acts as an aphrodisiac: it can be intimate, create tension, and evoke emotions. So what better prepares us for Valentine's Day than a concert on the eve of the celebration of love?
Soul, blues, and jazz - fifteen of the most beautiful love songs from the repertoire of stars such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Joni Mitchell, and Billie Holiday will be performed. There will also be arrangements of songs by jazz giants like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Dizzy Gillespie. These will, of course, be songs about love. The soothing voices of Anna Gadt, Monika Borzym, and Paulina Przybysz will be enriched with the sounds of the NOSPR string orchestra expanded with a jazz section. The arrangements by the excellent Nikola Kołodziejczyk guarantee a toning zone of relaxation: something for the ear and something for the heart. The whole event will be conducted by Krzysztof Herdzin himself.
