JazzKLUB / sneaky jesus
sneaky jesus is a Polish continuation of a revolution which broke out in Chicago and Los Angeles, later to reach London, rebelling against the conservative approach to academic jazz, the proof of that being the band’s debut album, released by the Shapes of Rhythm label. They are rooted in the Wrocław underground scene and can be credited as one of its driving powers. Their compositions are a result of the four musicians’ collective improvisation, based on looped trance-like motives full of astonishing turns in arrangement. The quartet achieves a natural blend between the sound of Polish Jazz, clearly heard echoes of hip-hop and breakbeat, complete with memorable melodies.
