Hania Rani & Dobrawa Czocher – Inner Symphonies - NOSPR

Hania Rani's exciting new project live at the NOSPR. On February 6, 2022, the sought-after Polish pianist will perform in a duet with the talented cellist Dobrawa Czocher. Their debut album Inner Symphonies was released in the autumn of 2021 by Deutsche Grammophon. Thus, the Polish artists became the first female duo associated with the most prestigious publishing house in the world of classical music. Inner Symphonies is a unique, introspective universe of sounds, which is best experienced live. The power of intimate emotions and virtuoso constructions of Hania Rani and Dobrawa Czocher will enchant fans in Katowice.

For them music and friendship are inseparable. They have known each other since they have learned their skills together at the music school in Gdańsk. In 2015, the two artists collaborated on the album White Flag, which featured new arrangements of songs by Polish cult songwriter Grzegorz Ciechowski. Although their lives later followed different paths, their friendship survived. In recent years, Hania Rani has developed her solo career as a pianist and composer, with two albums to her credit, while Dobrawa Czocher performed as a cellist with the Szczecin Philharmonic. Both artists have been successful, but their instinctive artistic bond has remained unchanged.

The fruit of that bond is the album Inner Symphonies, released October 15, 2021. It is the duo's first full-length album composed of original songs. Contrasting elements are coupled together to create a unique, introspective universe. From the slow, mysterious beauty of Whale's Song to the dizzying movement of Con Moto, we can contemplate the duo's virtuosic artistry and musical sensibility.

"The word ‘inner’ symbolizes spirituality, intimacy and privacy, while ‘symphonies’ means much more than just a musical form, it is also a symbol of peculiar construction, power and grandeur. This is a new adventure for us" – says Hania Rani.
