Natalia Kukulska sings Chopin
Songs of Fryderyk Chopin from „Czule Struny”
Tickets are available at www.biletserwis.pl.
The unique music project "Czułe struny" is back! Natalia Kukulska will sing the greatest compositions of Fryderyk Chopin. The Etude in E major and the Polonaise in A flat major in an original vocal version and a surprising arrangement will once again delight the Polish audience.
Natalia Kukulska is mainly known for her pop music, but at the same time she is constantly looking for new solutions and is inspired by unobvious artists. And it was as a result of such musical explorations that the singer came across Fryderyk Chopin, whose compositions have so far been associated with the piano and orchestra. Why not put words to the music we all know and call the emotions flowing out of it your own way? This is what the artist did, writing half of the lyrics for the album, and inviting respected authors and artists to prepare the rest: Mela Koteluk, Kayah, Gaba Kulka, Natalia Grosiak (Mikromusic) and Bovska.
In turn, she entrusted the arrangements to the best conductors and arrangers in Poland: Krzysztof Herdzin, Nikola Kołodziejczyk, Adam Sztaba, Paweł Tomaszewski and Jan Smoczyński. When the material was ready, Natalia Kukulska invited Sinfonia Varsovia and great musicians, including Michał Dąbrówka, Robert Kubiszyn and Piotr Wrombel, to record. This resulted in the creation of a completely unconventional album 'Tender Strings' with well-known compositions by Fryderyk Chopin in a very different, surprising vocal version. The high level of the album was also due to the guest participation of the outstanding pianist, Janusz Olejniczak, whose interpretations of the Polish composer's works are appreciated all over the world. Nearly 100 people were creatively and performatively involved in the recording of "Czułe struny". The entire project - bold and original - has been hailed as the largest artistic production on the domestic phonographic market and an unprecedented event in the world. A similar album would be far to seek.
Already at the pre-sale stage, the release ranked on the podium of the best-selling albums in all music categories of the Empik bestsellers and appeared at the top of the OLiS Official Sales List. All of this combined to achieve the status of a Gold and then Platinum album.
Following the release of the album, Natalia Kukulska performed at several concerts singing Chopin. On 29 and 31 January 2022, the artist performed in front of audiences in her 'life project' - as she calls it "Czułe struny" - at ICE Kraków and the NFM Wrocław. These concerts, organised by the Prestige MJM agency, were a musical event at the beginning of last year. This unique material was met with applause from the audience, who received Natalia Kukulska's performance with great enthusiasm. On stage in Kraków and Wrocław, the artist was accompanied by the excellent Beethoven Academy Orchestra conducted by Adam Sztaba, Krzysztof Herdzin, Nikola Kołodziejczyk, Paweł Tomaszewski and Jan Smoczyński.
Now it is time for the next "Czułe struny" concerts. They will be unusual in that they will take place in locations considered to be the best in Poland. Performances in these venues would not be ashamed of Frederic Chopin himself! These will be: The Grand Theatre - National Opera in Warsaw and the hall of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. Fans of the artist's talent and her Chopin discoveries will certainly be satisfied.
- I am sure that receiving such emotions live and listening to the elaborate nuances of the arrangements and performances will be a great experience for both the performers and the audience. I look forward to these encounters with Chopin's music, the orchestra, the conductors and the audience. For me it will be a celebration! - says Natalia Kukulska, who proudly admits that "Czułe struny" is also a musical dream come true.
Both concerts will take place next year: the Warsaw one on 29 April, and the Katowice one a day later, on 30 April.
- After last year's 'Czułe struny' concerts, when the artist conquered Krakow and Wroclaw, I am very happy that we will be able to organise further projects featuring Natalia Kukulska. This unconventional idea of modernising Chopin has already gained a large audience, who have been discovering the monumental works of the Polish composer anew with great enthusiasm. I invite you this time to perhaps the most representative venues in Poland. I am sure that Chopin will sound perfect in the Grand Theatre - National Opera and in the Katowice NOSPR in Natalia Kukulska's interpretation. It will undoubtedly be a musical feast. Perhaps they will even be the most prestigious concerts of 2024,' says Janusz Stefański of the Prestige MJM agency, which will organise both concerts.
