Camerata Silesia / Wodecki & Grechuta Above all things, your smile - NOSPR

Although Zbigniew Wodecki’s heritage and that of Marek Grechuta belong to two entirely different musical constellations, both gentlemen’s first artistic steps were the successes they enjoyed while performing with the ‘Anawa’ ensemble: Grechuta was their singer and Wodecki played the violin. Thanks to their insightful lyrics which were examples of literary excellence and their catchy tunes which did not fail to impress with their sophistication, Wodecki’s and Grechuta’s hits are today part of the canon of Polish songwriting. It comes as no surprise, then, that still new artists offer their own interpretations, matching their times and sensitivities: This time, the Camerata Silesia would like to invite you to enjoy Wodecki and Grechuta in a jazz version. Anna Szostak’s ensemble will be joined by such musicians as Paweł Tomaszewski, one of the most renowned pianists of his generation, the current dean of the Jazz and Popular Music Faculty of the Academy of Music in Katowice. The concert should appeal to every fan of Wodecki’s and Grechuta’s works: for who does not like returning where they have already been? [translator’s note: play on a line from Wodecki’s song ‘Lubię wracać tam, gdzie byłem już’ - ‘I like returning where I’ve already been’]
