VOICES OF COLOURS - NOSPR

Voices of Colours is an international musical project created by widely recognized Slovakian drummer Martin Valihora, who has been living in New York since he came to study in US at Berklee Collage of Music. Besides playing with many groups and artists, he is also well known for his decade-long collaboration with Hiromi Uehara.

He met most of the musicians while he was studying at Berklee and the prestigious Monk Institute in the US. They are some of the most important and creative instrumentalists and soloists of their generation from the V4 countries and Italy. The just-mentioned Visegrád Four was crucial in this project, as it is a grouping that arose from the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic as part of the Slovak presidency of the V4 in 2022. The selected musicians understood each other so much that they adopted the Voices of Colours project, and they continue to do so.

The repertoire showcases the individual artistic voices of all the performers. Unique creations of diverse musical colours and musical aesthetics of individual countries. Some of the performances of the group are fully improvised, based on creativity, imagination, and mysterious intuition of the musicians. Pure, deep creative act of the moment. Each concert is very, very different. To this day, the band has played at many significant festivals and stages such as the Umbria Jazz Festival, Milano Jazz Days, Carnegie Hall, One Day Festival in Bratislava, Porgy & Bess in Vienna, and many others.
