Vladimir Fanshil - NOSPR

Ukrainian-born Australian conductor Vladimir Fanshil has established a dynamic international career spanning symphonic, operatic and ballet repertoire. Based in Vienna, he is recognised for the clarity and energy of his orchestral leadership, alongside a distinctive commitment to creating a more direct and immediate connection between musicians and audiences.

From 2024 until April 2026, Fanshil served as Resident Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, conducting a broad range of symphonic programmes across two seasons. He will return to NOSPR as a guest conductor for a forthcoming concert with acclaimed pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk.

Following two successful seasons with the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, Fanshil has been reinvited for a third consecutive year. During the 2026–27 season, he returns to lead the orchestra on a ten-concert tour across Germany, appearing in many of the country’s major concert halls. Recent and forthcoming engagements also include the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile and the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, where he has developed a close relationship through nine return engagements.

Fanshil’s company debut with Opera Queensland, conducting Dvořák’s Rusalka with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, was met with rave reviews. Limelight praised the way “Dvořák’s emotionally spun music [was] lovingly spirited into life” under his direction.

His previous orchestral engagements include the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, where he appeared regularly as a guest conductor between 2017 and 2020; the Budapest Festival Orchestra; Konzerthausorchester Berlin; Orchestre National d’Île-de-France at the Philharmonie de Paris; the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra on tour; the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra; and the State Hermitage Orchestra in St Petersburg.

In opera and ballet, Fanshil has conducted Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet for The Australian Ballet, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Verdi’s La Traviata at Odessa State Opera, Borodin’s Prince Igor at Hamburg State Opera, and works by Stravinsky at the Rijeka Opera House.

From 2013 to 2017, he worked closely with Iván Fischer as Assistant Conductor of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Fischer described him as “a highly gifted and intelligent conductor,” praising his Budapest Festival Orchestra debut as “most impressive.”

Fanshil is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of Live at Yours, the innovative Australian concert series that has presented more than 300 performances since 2020, bringing internationally renowned artists into atmospheric venues through intimate and highly engaging concert formats.
