RUDI MAHALL’S ALMOST DANISH QUARTET - NOSPR
RUDI MAHALL’S ALMOST DANISH QUARTET

Known for his expressive playing with his current groups like Die Enttäuschung and Monk’s Casino, Rudi Mahall is now approaching the be-bop tradition and Monk’s repertoire as the leader of his international quartet. The group’s playing is raw, witty, unpredictable and they are not afraid to turn standards upside down and play through the free-jazz lens.
The quartet had its debut during 2024 when performing on several jazz festivals in Denmark. Apart from Rudi, it consists of a Polish pianist Artur Tuznik and a Danish rhythm section of a drummer Kasper Tom and bassist Richard Andersson. Richard and Rudi have previously recorded and toured in the band ImmerGrün and Kasper has collaborated with Rudi in the quartet FUSK since 2011. Rudi Mahall emphasizes the importance of swing, Charlie Parker and Eric Dolphy as his inspirations. He now teams up with versatile musicians for a trip through expressive improvisations and reimagining be-bop standards with unique musical communication and acoustic sound.
