Prague Philharmonic Choir - NOSPR

The Prague Philharmonic Choir (PPC) is a fully professional ensemble, founded in 1935 by choirmaster and pedagogue Jan Kühn. Now it is the oldest professional choir in the Czech Republic. The choir boasts an extensive repertoire, spanning from large-scale symphonic works and oratorios to intimate a cappella concerts and contemporary music. Lukáš Vasilek has served as Principal Conductor and Artistic Director since 2007, and is joined by Lukáš Kozubík, who holds the post of Second Choirmaster.

Under Lukáš Vasilek’s leadership, the PPC has earned a reputation as a sought-after partner of leading international orchestras and conductors, including Semyon Bychkov, Jakub Hrůša, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sakari Oramo, and Sir Simon Rattle in recent years. The ensemble regularly appears at major music festivals such as the Prague Spring International Music Festival, Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Dvořák Prague International Music Festival, and Smetana’s Litomyšl.

At home, the choir collaborates regularly with the Czech Philharmonic, while on the international stage it has recently worked with the Berlin Philharmonic, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Wiener Symphoniker, Hong Kong Philharmonic and Israel Philharmonic, among others.

The ensemble has appeared at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and concert venues, including the BBC Proms, the Bregenz Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, Carnegie Hall (New York), the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, KKL Lucerne, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, the Prague Spring International Music Festival, and the Dvořák Prague Festival, among many others.
