Lisa Strauss Cello
Born into a family of musicians, Lisa Strauss began learning the piano at the age of five. She then turned to the cello, which became her main instrument. After studying at the CRR of Paris in the class of Hélène Dautry, she entered the CNSMD of Paris at the age of sixteen in the class of Michel Strauss. She obtained her master’s degree there five years later with the highest distinctions.
Lisa frequently performs as a soloist, notably with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oise Philharmonic Orchestra, the Douai Orchestra, and the Appassionato Ensemble. She has been invited to numerous festivals, including the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival, the Journées Ravel, Ottawa Chamberfest, Opus Amadeus, Chamber Music in Giverny...
Lisa has studied with such extraordinary musicians as Yo-Yo Ma, Ivry Gitlis and Lynn Harrell. As an advocate of the music of her time, she collaborates with many contemporary composers, including Régis Campo, Matthieu Stefanelli and Thomas Gubitsch.
In 2017, Lisa joined the Mozart class of the Philippe Jaroussky Music Academy. She is a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire since June 2020. Also a laureate of the Villa Musica Foundation, she explores the great repertoire of chamber music alongside eminent artists.
In October 2020, she joined Gautier Capuçon’s cello class of excellence at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. In August 2021, she was selected to participate in the “Un Été en France” tour with the French cellist.
During her studies, Lisa co-founded the Philia Trio, an ensemble composed of a violin, an accordion and a cello. Their first album, Madness (April 2022), was recorded with the support of the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise and their record company DiscAuvers.
