Dazzled the international scene in the spring 2021 as, at the age of 27, he won the much-coveted International Queen Elisabeth competition receiving the Grand Prix-Queen Mathilde Prize besides the Musiq3 Audience Prize and the Canvas-Klara Prize. He is a guest of such venues and festivals as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Rheingau Musik Festival, Verbier Festival, Klavier Festival Ruhr, La Roque d’Anthéron festival, Luxembourg Philharmonie, the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, Bozar Brussels, Louisiana Museum in Denmark, Kumho Art Hall Seoul, Tongyeong Concert Hall, Sala Saõ Paulo, Warsaw Philharmonic, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, Sala Verdi Milan, and the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Jonathan Fournel has played under the baton of conductors such as Stéphane Denève, Jonathon Heyward, Rafael Payare, Peter Oundjian, Hugh Wolff, Fan Tao, Jacques Mercier, Frank Braley, and Lawrence Foster, with such orchestras as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, the Belgian National Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lorraine, the Croatian Radio and Television Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg. Fournel was the “Classical Revelation 2017” of the Paris-based ADAMI and is supported by the Fondation Colas, the Fondation Goéland and the Allumeurs d’Etoiles. The artist has signed to the multi Gramophone winning label Alpha and released a Brahms album in October 2021.
