Modulaire is more than an ensemble. It is a way of working with music that brings together composition, improvisation and a shared responsibility for the collective sound.

Led by Emil Miszk, the project operates as a modular ensemble: a large international group that can take on different configurations while retaining the same approach to shaping musical form. In this sense, Modulaire is also a European project: one based not on a single shared aesthetic, but on the ability to listen to differences and use them to create a common form. Modulaire grew out of a need to be together without relinquishing one’s individual voice. The project seeks an alternative to the traditional hierarchical model of a large ensemble, creating a space in which different perspectives can coexist, challenge one another and influence one another. The works have a clearly defined architecture, but are not closed structures. They leave room for decisions, reactions and mutual listening. Every voice matters, but each carries a responsibility for the whole.
